There is a new book out now, in time for Christmas - It is "Britain's Lost Cricket Grounds", written by Chris Arnot. Published by Aurum Press. 190 pages. A selection of 40 hallowed homes of cricket that will never see another ball bowled for one reason or another. Skelmersdale's old School Lane ground is included at Chapter 115. We are included in the illustrious company of Sheffield's Bramhall Lane, Hastings, and Southampton, amongst others. The published price is £25, but if you do a bit of searching, I got my copy for £14.
With the season now at a close, work has started on the installation of our new 3-lane 'state of the art' practice net facility. The work is being carried out by ECB-approved Verde Sports Ltd of Chorley. Verde Sports Ltd set up in 1988 to concentrate on artifical grass & synthetic sports surfaces for specialised sports such as golf, cricket and bowls. Below, we will keep you up-to-date with progress.................
Winter Nets will start on Thursday, 26 January 2012 at the new indoor facility at St Bede's Ormskirk. It will start at 7.00 pm until 9,00 pm, and will be on the same day/time until the start of the season. The cost will be £3.00 per person.
